A town you can't
leave. A night
you might not survive.
FROM (MGM+, 2022) is a sci-fi horror mystery about an ordinary American town that traps everyone who drives into it. Every road out bends back to where you started. And when the sun goes down, things that look like people come out of the forest — and they want in.
01Rules of the Town
Nobody chose to be here. The residents have learned the hard way what keeps you breathing. Newcomers learn them in their first terrifying night — or they don't.
You can't drive out
Every road loops. Drive straight for hours and the town reappears ahead of you. The forest won't let go.
Be inside by dark
The creatures only come out at night. Survival is a daily race to get behind a door before sundown.
Wear a talisman
Stone-and-glass talismans hung over a doorway stop the creatures from entering. While it hangs, the house is safe.
Never invite them in
They smile. They sound human. They beg to be let inside. The moment you open the door for them, the protection means nothing.
02The Map
The town is small — a main street, a scatter of homes, and the woods pressing in on every side. These are the places Season 1 keeps returning to.
03Two Communities, One Trap
The trapped split into two camps with very different philosophies about how to live inside a nightmare.
The Township
- Rules, order, and grim routine. Boyd holds the community together by force of will.
- Believes survival means discipline: count heads, ration hope, keep digging for a way out.
- Home base for the newly-arrived Matthews family and most long-time residents.
Colony House
- A looser, commune-style household — share everything, party against the dread, look after your own.
- Skeptical of Boyd's authority; thinks the answer is acceptance, not control.
- Where some younger residents (including Boyd's own son) choose to live.
04Who's Who
The core residents you follow through Season 1. (Backgrounds kept to what's known by season's end.)
05The Things at Night
The show is careful never to fully explain them. Here's only what the residents have observed.
- They look like us. Men, women, even children — often in old-fashioned clothes, always with a warm, wrong smile.
- They're nocturnal. Daylight is safe; they emerge from the treeline at dusk and vanish by dawn.
- They manipulate. They mimic loved ones, plead, and reason — anything to get you to open a door.
- They're patient and brutal. Once inside, the violence is sudden and total. No bargaining works.
- Talismans hold them off. The only reliable defense — though no one in town truly knows why they work.
06Season 1, Beat by Beat
The shape of the season, start to cliffhanger — including the Season 1 finale's reveals (but nothing beyond it).
07Open Questions
Season 1 answers almost nothing and that's the point. These are the threads left dangling — pure mystery, no resolutions spoiled.
