The redraft, in one sentence ALEX isn't a time machine — nobody travels. It identifies a branch where the desired outcome holds and slowly slides pages from other branches into reality until that branch becomes the lived one. The dashed arrows are page-swaps in progress.
Why Xavier bleeds He's User X — ALEX's designated user. The plane (S2E1) and the train to Colorado are moments where ALEX is operating directly on/around him; his body registers the disagreement between Timeline A and Timeline B as a nosebleed. The seams glow because the redraft hasn't fully smoothed over.
Sinatra didn't push a button She set ALEX running with an objective (get Dylan back) and ALEX spent years redrafting toward it. "I think it worked" in E7 isn't her triggering anything — it's her witnessing the cumulative result finally surface, in the form of Link standing in front of her.
The card is the long move Bringing Dylan back wasn't the only objective ALEX was optimizing for. It also pre-positioned Xavier across the season so that, at the moment Sinatra dies, the card with his initial lands in his hand. ALEX has been setting up the next move for a long time.
